I thought I had everything that Hank Williams recorded, studio recordings, demo's, radio, TV, live, you name it. Imagine my surprise to discover a whole collection of "new" ones. Of course, I had to have it. I knew it would be good, after all it's Hank, but I was absolutely amazed. Hank Williams singing songs that I never imagined that he would ever sing, and some that I had never heard anyone sing. Anyone who is even remotely a fan of Hank Williams should own this set. In these recordings, Hank seems relaxed, and he seems to be genuinely having a good time singing these songs. As I said, this is a must have.

The absolute best of the best, their can't be any higher rating for this box set, I want more. this box set puts the sound of his Mercury-Box set of 10 cd's Commerical recordings to shame. good thing CD's can't be worn out as I would have worn the grooves by now having just 2 weeks having played at least 25 times all 3 cd's!

A Big Amen to all the other reviewers who gave this a 5 star rating!!! This is 3 cd's of Hank and the Drifting Cowboys performing live on a radio show, back in 1951. Its informal, you get to hear them talk, and tell stories and joke, and etc. This is a great release,one of the best releases of all-time!!! I would estimate 60 percent or more of this music is pure southern, country Gospel. These recordings reveal Hank in a different "light" than all the previously released recordings. This is a "must-have" for any Hank Williams fan period!!!

This is an amazing find. These recordings were headed for the dumpster when someone had the wisdom to pull them aside. The recordings are priceless. The recording quality is very good with a natural sound that is lacking on some of the commercial recordings that I have heard. Hearing Hank speak is a real bonus. I love all the cheering at the end of the songs, these guys were having a lot of fun. Hearing Hank sing so many unknown (to me at least) songs gives us an idea what kind of material these guys played on a daily basis. Lot's of gospel songs and some popular tunes too. Hank's version of On Top of Old Smokey is so blue and soulful it doesn't even sound like the same song. This is the best of Hank Williams...you gotta have this.

This is fabulous-- just like getting a new Hank album. His voice is strong. Hank is at the top of his game singing old spirituals and other songs not previously released, as well as some live versions of his classics. A must for any fan.

My siblings and I were raised on Hank Williams' music. When I found this box set, I bought three, so that we all could enjoy. We are all now adults and this set is awesome. Brings back a lot of good memories. Thanks Amazon for carrying this. Susan

Other's have already described the set, so I'll just toss in some minor points. They do sound much better than the previously circulated bootlegs. A lot of work has gone into declicking and such. Also, these are not exact show-by-show copies. Much of the talk has been deleted so it's much more like listening to a new album rather than a radio show. For repeated listenings, this is probably a wise move. When playing the bootleg set, you may quickly tire of hearing the theme song over and over along with the sales pitch for Mother's Best Flour. Eventually, I believe they will also release the recordings in that form, but this version is likely more to the liking of the general public. Also, I believe additional volumes are to follow that are in the same format as this set. So, keep your eye out for Volume 2, etc. Great stuff! Get it now!!

I got these recordings for my father for Christmas and he has been listening to them every day since. The quality is much better than I had anticipated and would consider this to be a vital piece of anyone's Hank Williams collection.
